Hello and Welcome
This is my mess around site for bits and pieces. I am doing this just for fun, because I can and because it is free. A big thank you to my webhosts for this. Hopefully while messing about with this site I will be able to learn something about web design.
GNU/LINUX 
I really like Linux operating systems. They cost nothing, you can learn about how your computer works and experiment to your heart's content. If you break it you get to keep both halves but that doesn't matter as you just reinstall and start tampering again. If you get stuck you can get advice and help from forums and wikis on the net. You can also install them on as many computers as you like and they make great home servers. If you have never tried Linux before see the GNU/Linux page for some tips on booting Live Cds which is the best way to start. Links to my favourite distributions are below.
This is a great organisation that helps local communities do something worthwhile. Check it out and see if there is a group near you. You can get useful things and clear out stuff that you no longer want that is in usable condition. Better than putting it in the bin !
